Tutorial 1B: Install Arduino IDE in windows 10

Gday project-teers and welcome to my first tutorial, which covers installing the Arduino IDE required to program the Arduino and clone boards easily. I will be covering the use of the IDE in a lot more detail in further projects and tutorials.

The first thing we need to do is to download the IDE. So head over to http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Software and download the IDE software from the “Download the Arduino IDE” section. Note there are 2 versions, one that can be used online and we will use the offline version which will need installing.

Once the downloaded file has finished downloaded then run it. This will start the installation process.

When the Arduino Setup: License Agreement comes up click on “I Agree” to continue.

Make sure all desired install options are ticked (I ticked all boxes here” then click “Next >” to continue

Either pick a different install directory of do what I did and accept the default location by clicking “Install”

This next bit will take a little while while it installs the IDE and the default drivers. When ever a Windows Security window comes up click on the “Install” button to continue till it gets to the end of the install

Once at the enend of the install the progress bar will be full and the word “Completed” will appear above the progress bar. Simply click “Close”. The Arduino IDE is now installed and can be run by double clicking on the Arduino icon on the desktop.

As we progress through the future tutorials I will show you more about the Arduino IDE and how to use it.

Till next, timekeep inventing and building new projects 😉
